1999 birth-year forward Cayse Ton is moving on from the Rayside-Balfour Canadians of the Northern Ontario Jr. Hockey League to the Charlottetown Islanders of the Quebec Major Jr. Hockey League.

Ton, a 10th-round pick of the Owen Sound Attack at the 2015 Ontario Hockey League draft, makes the move to Charlottetown and the QMJHL as a free agent after a 20-goal NOJHL season with Rayside-Balfour in 2016-2017.

The 2016-2017 campaign was Ton’s second with Rayside-Balfour. Regular season and playoffs included, the 5-foot-9, 175-pound product of New Liskeard, Ont., produced 20 goals, 30 assists, 50 points in 58 games.

An accomplished student, Ton was named NOJHL Scholastic Player of the Year for the 2016-2017 season.

Rayside-Balfour owner and president Adrian Gedye commented on Ton’s signing with Charlottetown.

“I would like to thank (coach-general manager) Dave Clancy and the Rayside staff for working hard to develop Cayse. We are very proud of Cayse. Our program is committed to helping players like Cayse achieve excellence both on and off the ice,” said Gedye.
