We have tracked an Express delivery to Espanola from St. Thomas.

Espanola Express of the Northern Ontario Jr. Hockey League has signed big winger Colton Wiacek away from the St. Thomas Stars of the Greater Ontario Jr. Hockey League, Hockey News North has confirmed.

In 63 games with St. Thomas over the past two seasons, the 6-foot-1, 200 pound Wiacek produced 10 goals, eight assists, 18 points.

“He is a physical, 200 foot player who has an offensive upside,” Espanola general manager Jason Rapcewicz said of Wiacek.

“We were a little undersized last year, “Rapcewicz relayed to Hockey News North. “So, in that regard, we wanted to add size and grit for the coming season. Colton brings both … with the ability to contribute offensively.”

The signing of Wiacek follows a trade that Espanola made with the French River Rapids earlier this week in which the Express acquired James Eng for Jayden Parnell in an exchange of 2001 birth year forwards.

Eng managed six goals, 15 assists, 21 points in 56 outings for French River last season.

Parnell totaled nine goals, nine assists, 18 points in a 2019-2020 season that was split between Espanola and the Elliot Lake Wildcats.
