6 Firebirds with NHL ties

Boasting a roster of some of the best young talent in the Ontario Hockey League, Flint Firebirds seem poised to return to the Western Conference playoffs in 2018-2019 after missing out on the post season in 2017-2018.

And an example of the number of good players that Flint has is that no less than six Firebirds attended National Hockey League development camps last week.

Dennis Busby (Arizona Coyotes), Ty Dellandrea (Dallas Stars), Fedor Gordeev (Toronto Maple Leafs), Riley McCourt (Dallas Stars), Hakon Nilsen (New York Islanders) and Connor Roberts (Pittsburgh Penguins) are current members of the Firebirds who skated at NHL camps.

Busby, Gordeev, McCourt and Nilsen are defensemen and Dellandrea and Roberts are forwards.

Dellandrea tops the list of Firebirds with NHL status as he was selected in the first round, 13th overall, by Dallas at this year’s draft.

Of note, McCourt and Roberts both joined the Firebirds in trades made by Flint general manager Barclay Branch during the 2017-2018 season.
