First W for Sudbury Wolves

The fans can relax a bit now. So too can the players and maybe even the coaches. Sudbury Wolves have their first win of the 2017-2018 Ontario Hockey League season.

After opening the regular season with a 0-3-2 record through their first five outings, the Wolves began a road trip tonight with a decisive 5-2 win over the Niagara IceDogs.

Though without a win through their first five games, Wolves general manager Rob Papineau did not buy into any hysteria about the 0-3-2 start.

“Really, we could have just as easily won four of those first five games with a few bounces and without a few late breakdowns,” Papineau relayed to HockeyNewsNorth.com before tonight’s win over Niagara.

Of note, Sault Ste. Marie product Darian Pilon scored one of Sudbury’s goals and fellow Sooite, defenseman Nolan Makkonen, was a +1 in tonight’s triumph over Niagara.
