Fresh from their finest season in a franchise history that began in 2015, Flint Firebirds have added fuel to the future with the signing of two more players from the 2020 Ontario Hockey League priority selections draft.

Flint general manager Barclay Branch has confirmed the signings of forward Ty Petrou and goalie Chazz Nixon.

Petrou was taken by Flint in the fourth round while Nixon was the Firebirds fifth round pick at the recent OHL priority selections process.

The additions of Petrou and Nixon follow the earlier signing by Flint of its first round pick from the 2020 draft, forward Gavin Hayes.

Before the 2019-2020 OHL season was shut down because of the COVID-19 crisis, Flint had already established a new franchise record with 82 points from a record of 40-21-2.

The 82 points not only had Flint in fourth place in the 10-team Western Conference but were good for fifth overall in the 20-member OHL.
