Sault Ste. Marie product Nick Porco is not expected to play again for the Barrie Colts of the Ontario Hockey League until after Christmas. The 18-year old left winger has been diagnosed with mononucleosis, Hockey News North has confirmed.

Porco last played for Barrie on Saturday, Nov. 30.

The 6 foot, 180-pound Porco was acquired by Barrie from the Saginaw Spirit in a blockbuster trade on Oct. 27 of this year.

Porco has one goal, two assists, three points in 10 games with Barrie. He had four goals, three assists, seven points in 14 games with Saginaw to begin the 2019-2020 season.

A Dallas Stars prospect, Porco was picked in the fifth round of this year’s National Hockey League draft.
