Ty Dellandrea has become the first player in the three-year Ontario Hockey League history of the Flint Firebirds to be selected in the first round of the National Hockey League draft.
Dallas Stars selected Dellandrea in the first round, 13th overall, of the 2018 draft.
The 2018 NHL draft is being held in Dallas.
Dellandrea, a 6-foot, 190-pound forward with a 2000 birth date, had 27 goals, 32 assists, 59 points in 67 games for Flint, which missed the playoffs and finished 19th overall in the 20-team OHL in 2017-2018.
He was Flint’s first-round pick, fifth overall, at the 2016 OHL draft.
