Coached by Sault Ste. Marie native Joe Shawhan, Michigan Tech Huskies are ranked third among 10 teams in the Western Collegiate Hockey Association’s pre-season poll preparatory to the 2017-2018 campaign.

A long-time assistant and associate coach in the WCHA, having worked for the Lake Superior State Lakers and Northern Michigan Wildcats before going to Michigan Tech, the respected, respectable, 54-year old Shawhan is about to enter his first season as head coach of the Houghton-based Huskies.
