Two more wins for Timmins

It was back on the October 17-18 weekend when the Timmins Rock lost a pair of home and home games to the Espanola Paper Kings by 3-1 and 5-4 (overtime) scores. In the three months since, Timmins has not lost a single contest.

Timmins took its amazing winning streak to 21 games in succession on the weekend with a home and home sweep of the arch rival Hearst Lumberjacks. Win number 21 in a row came in dramatic fashion when local lad Kaeden McArthur scored a short handed goal in overtime as Timmins stunned Hearst 5-4.

The Rock now has a record of 27-5-1 though it remains in second place in the Northern Ontario Jr. Hockey League, four points back of the first place Sudbury Cubs. Notably, the Rock has four games in hand on the Cubs.

The 21 game winning streak is an accomplishment that Rock president Ted Gooch is quick to pass on accolades to all those involved with the Timmins program.

“A 21 game winning streak is an outstanding accomplishment, and it speaks to the strength of our entire organization,” Gooch relayed to Hockey News North. “Our coaching staff deserves tremendous credit for their preparation, leadership, and commitment to excellence. They’ve created a culture of accountability and consistency that allows our players to perform at a high level night after night.

“Our players have earned this through their work ethic, discipline, and team-first mentality. They represent the Timmins Rock with pride and professionalism every time they step on the ice. While we’re proud of this milestone, our focus remains on continuing to improve and maintaining the standards that define the Timmins Rock organization,” summed up good man Gooch.

What you think about “Two more wins for Timmins”

  1. The cohesiveness of the team off the ice is, in my opinion, a factor to the team’s success.
I am a Billet Parent. My two “Hockey Sons” often have teammates over to our house. The thing is, I can never predict who it will be. Most of the team has been through our door. A couple weeks ago, there were six players involved in a poker game around the kitchen table and two more showed up.
Everything about this team is impressive, and I’m proud to witness it.
