Southwind in Elliot Lake
Elliot Lake Vikings of the Northern Ontario Jr. Hockey League have signed local product Gerald Southwind ahead of the ’26-27 season.
A hulking 6 foot 3, 200 pound defenseman with a 2008 birth date, Southwind has skated in the Great North Hockey League with the Sudbury Jr. Wolves and the Timmins Majors. He also saw action in four NOJHL games in ’25-26 as an affiliate player with the Timmins Rock.
Southwind hails from the cozy Highway 17 town of Cutler, which is about 25 miles from Elliot Lake. He played minor hockey in Elliot Lake prior to moving up to the AAA level in Sudbury and Timmins.
