Beavers from the area ponds
Battle-tested head coach and general manager Kyle Brick is bent on four returning forwards from the Sault Ste. Marie area to have a big impact on his small market Blind River Beavers of the Northern Ontario Jr. Hockey League come the ’26-27 season.
The 40-year old Brick, a Thessalon product who has been with the Beavers for 10 full seasons — he is the most successful coach-GM in Blind River’s NOJHL franchise history that dates back to 2000 — told Hockey News North that he has major expectations for Camden Cowan, Caleb Walker, Danny MacDonald and Wyatt Jarratt.
“He is our engine, when he goes we go,” Brick relayed of Cowan, a 2006 birth year skater who was second on the Blind River scoring chart in ’25-26 with 16 goals, 25 assists, 41 points. “We are expecting a big season from him on and off the ice.”
As for Walker, who has a 2007 birth date and is coming off of a ’25-26 season in which he netted 16 goals, seven assists, 23 points, Brick noted that “he was one of our top goal scorers last season and our expectations couldn’t be higher for Caleb this season.”
Over to MacDonald, a 2008 birth year skater who had four goals, 11 assists, 15 points for the Beavers in ’25-26, Brick stated that “Danny has the potential of being an elite scorer in the league … and that’s exactly what we’re expecting from him in his sophomore year.”
As for Jarratt, who has a 2009 birth date and is still one of the youngest players on the Beavers, Brick relayed that “we have big expectations for our power forward (who potted eight goals, nine assists, 17 points in ’25-26.) “You can see he put in the work this summer.”
