Bruno Bragagnolo, who is the president and general manager of the Michigan-based Eagles, told Hockey News North that “we will always give an opportunity to local boys if they are good enough to play in our league. And the players who we are talking about are more than good enough to play for us.”

The local lads from the Twin Soo area are as follows.

Dalton Hoornstra. From the nearby town of Brimley, Michigan, the 5 foot 11, 175 pound Hoornstra had a backup goalie role with the Eagles in ’25-26 as a 2008 birth year rookie. Hoornstra had a regular season record of 7-6-0 with a 3.07 goals against average and .907 save percentage.

Daryn Szabo. A 5 foot 10, 170 pound puck stopper with a 2009 birth date, Szabo spent the ’25-26 season with the under 18 level Soo Indians of the Michigan Amateur Hockey Association’s Tier 1 Elite League. Prior to that, Szabo left his Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan home to tend goal for first the Boston Jr. Eagles and then Detroit Little Caesars.

Carter Huckson. From Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, the 5 foot 10, 175 pound forward with a 2007 birth date had six goals, nine assists, 15 points in 40 regular season games in ’25-26 before a knee injury ended his rookie campaign in the NOJHL.

Colton Huckson. The younger brother of Carter, the 6 foot 2, 175 pound defenseman with a 2008 birth date had four goals, 18 assists, 22 points in 52 regular season games in ’25-26 before adding five helpers in eight playoff outings as an NOJHL rookie.
