New NOJHL season underway
A pair of Friday night games were on the slate as first pucks fell on the ’26-27 Northern Ontario Jr. Hockey League regular season.
Soo Eagles 1, Espanola Paper Kings 0. A shorthanded goal by Leo Papageorgiou was the only tally of the tilt as the Eagles won on the road at Espanola. Dalton Hoornstra made 33 saves for the whitewash while Mason Janicki had the same number of stops in defeat.
Timmins Rock 4, Iroquois Falls Storm 1. Two goals by Maxx Hamelin and 36 saves from Ayden Mullen lifted the Rock to the road win and a continued, ongoing dominance of the Storm. The Timmins triumph made a winner of Sheldon Reasbeck in his debut as the new head coach of the Rock.
