U15 AA Hound girls show well
It was a mission accomplished of sorts for the Soo Jr. Greyhounds Under 15 AA girls hockey team at a recent showcase tournament in Stoney Creek. The U15 AA girls posted a record of 2-2-1 at the tournament and according to head coach Joey Sewell, “win, lose, tie we showed up, we surprised teams, we shut teams down and we should be proud of what we accomplished.”
Victories for the U15 Jr. Hound girls came over the Dallas Jr. Stars and the Whitby Wildcats — both by 4-2 scores — while the tie was a 1-1 draw against the Saugeen Maitland Lightning. The only two losses were narrow ones –by 1-0 and 2-1 scores — to the CN Academy Polar Bears and the Pittsburgh Jr. Penguins.
Aforementioned head coach Joey Sewell — who was a bruising forward with the Windsor Spitfires of the Ontario Hockey League from 1998 to 2001 — further noted that the five games played by the U15 Hound girls “was a full team effort where every line took ownership. This was our first showing in a showcase tournament as a unit.”
