New GM for the Ottawa 67’s
The new general manager of the Ottawa 67’s has spent more than half of his life within the Ontario Hockey League.
41-year old James Boyd has been hired as the new hockey boss in Ottawa in a move that was anticipated from the moment he parted ways with the Mississauga Steelheads as their GM several weeks ago.
The 67’s had been looking for a new hockey head since Jeff Brown resigned from the dual role of coach and GM in April after three years on the job.
Boyd played four OHL seasons as a gritty winger, suiting up for the 67’s as well as the Kitchener Rangers and erstwhile Belleville Bulls.
Over the past 17 years, Boyd has worked for a number of OHL teams as a head coach, associate coach, assistant coach and GM.
While with Mississauga, Boyd put together the Steelheads unit that won the Eastern Conference playoff title as the no. 2 seed before losing to the Erie Otters in this spring’s OHL finals.
It’s a big addition to the Ottawa 67’s. However, the head coach will be announced in about 10 minutes.
