Kudos to Cain, Team NOJHL

Apropos, the Northern Ontario Jr. Hockey League has announced that Team NOJHL — which represented it at the Central Canada Cup Challenge in Toronto over the weekend — has been named its “Stars of the Week” for the period ending November 16.

Managed by Kevin Cain of the Soo Thunderbirds, Team NOJHL turned in its the best-ever performance in the four-year history of the multi-league event by advancing all the way to the semi-finals before falling to the eventual tournament champions from the Ontario Jr. Hockey League.

Nine NOJHLers produced multiple-point showings at the tournament, including Anthony Miller of the Thunderbirds.

Team NOJHL also received strong goaltending from the Thunderbird duo of Mario Culina and Brian Kment.

“All the players, coaches and support staff at the Central Canada Cup Challenge represented the NOJHL with class and distinction,” NOJHL commissioner Rob Mazzuca said via press release.

  1. Nick and Amore will do very well with Paul and the Eskies while Jamey may reach his potential with Lafleur and his coaching staff… A very interesting trade….Good for both teams ….
