New Rayside hockey boss
Rayside Balfour Canadians of the Northern Ontario Jr. Hockey League have officially confirmed the reputable Jeff Forsyth as their new general manager.
A hometown boy, Forsyth joins the Sudbury-area Canadians after eight years of coaching with the Sudbury Nickel Capital Wolves of the Great North Midget Hockey League and a just-completed, three-year stint as the northern scout for the Sudbury Wolves of the Ontario Hockey League.
Mark Burgess, whose family owned the OHL Wolves for 30 years before selling the franchise in 2016, recently took over ownership of the NOJHL’s Rayside franchise. And Burgess is ecstatic to have Forsyth at the helm of the Rayside hockey department.
“Jeff is a knowledgeable and decorated local hockey mind, who shares in our drive to make the Rayside Balfour Canadians the premiere Canadian Junior A hockey franchise,” Burgess relayed.
And Forsyth, from his end, is happy to be on board with Burgess, who is known for his loyalty and generosity to those who work for him and are associated with him.
“I’m very excited to join the Rayside Balfour Canadians,” said Forsyth. “I’d like to thank the Burgess family for their support and for their trust. We have a great opportunity in Rayside to build a model Junior A hockey franchise.
“I can’t wait to show our loyal and supportive fan base in Rayside the commitment, drive and passion that our team will possess this upcoming season in the NOJHL,” Forsyth added.
