Hard-working Cole Delarosbil has been a positive presence as a rookie forward with the Espanola Express of the Northern Ontario Jr. Hockey League.

And the Express is anxiously awaiting the return to the lineup of the 6-foot-1, 190 pound Sault Ste. Marie product who broke his ankle in an NOJHL game back on January 3 of this year.

Dave Clancy, the venerable, no-nonsense head coach of the Express, is a big fan of what Delarosbil brings to the Espanola squad, which recently secured a West Division playoff spot for the first time since the 2015-2016 season.

“He has been working really hard since he broke his ankle to make it back before the season ends, which I am not surprised because that is how Cole approaches everything he does,” Clancy told Hockey News North. “He works extremely hard in practice to make himself a better player and we have seen a lot of improvement in both Cole’s individual skills and his confidence in games.

“As a coach it is always enjoyable to have players who show up to the rink with smiles on their faces and the commitment to improve,” Clancy added, in further praise Delarosbil.

In all, Delaosbil — who has a 2001 birth date — has six goals, three assists, nine points in just 25 games for Espanola this season.

Last season, while skating for the Soo Jr. Greyhounds of the Great North Midget Hockey League, Delarosbil netted 12 goals, five assists, 17 points in 38 games, playoffs included.
