Kory Cooper is back in the Ontario Hockey League with the Kingston Frontenacs, this time as their assistant general manager and goalie coach.
Cooper will work under Paul McFarland, who earlier this summer returned to the Frontenacs as coach and general manager after three seasons as an assistant in the National Hockey League.
“Kory comes to us with a lot of great experience at both the professional and major junior level. He also brings a familiarity with him to the community of Kingston and the Frontenacs,” McFarland relayed.
Originally from Prince Edward Island, Cooper has a notable link to Kingston.
Cooper previously worked for the Frontenacs as a goalie coach from 2006 until 2011 and his wife is from Kingston.
“I loved my experience with the Frontenacs when I was first here,” noted Cooper, who has also worked for the NHL’s Ottawa Senators as a goalie development coach for the franchise. “I was a fresh coach at that time, now I am coming back more polished and I believe I can provide a deeper role within the team.”
A former OHL goalie himself, Cooper tended twine for the Belleville Bulls and Sudbury Wolves from 1994 to 1998.
