He is heading home to Blind River. Stalwart rookie goalie Patrick Boivin has been traded by the Espanola Express to the Blind River Beavers in a noteworthy Northern Ontario Jr. Hockey League cash transaction, Hockey News North has confirmed.

On an Espanola team that is in fifth place in the West Division of the NOJHL with a a record of 8-15-2, Boivin has an 8-13-2 mark with a .908 save percentage and 3.51 goals against average.

Boivin has been in the net for everyone of Espanola’s victories and has faced a barrage of shots — 817 of them in 1,284 minutes of work.

A local Blind River product, the acquisition of Boivin looms as an added net bonus for the Beavers, who are in third place in the NOJHL’s West Division with a record of 14-9-2.

The 18-year old Boivin joins a Blind River goalie group that also includes 18-year old Sault Ste. Marie product Gavin Disano and 19-year old Jeremi Delaquis. Delaquis has not played since late November due to a concussion injury.

Blind River general manager and coach Kyle Brick told Hockey News North that “the opportunity to acquire a good goalie and a good local kid like Patrick was too good to pass up. We liked our goalie situation before and we like it even more now.”
