A splendid 65-save show by Jake Marois backstopped the Espanola Paper Kings to a 3-1 win over the Sudbury Cubs in Game 3 of their Northern Ontario Jr. Hockey League playoff series.

With the much-needed victory, Espanola now trails the best-of-seven West Division set two games to one. Game 4 is slated for tonight at 7:30 at the Espanola Regional Recreation Complex.

As Marois was in fine form between the pipes in front of a Sunday evening home crowd of 373, Lucas Signoretti scored twice and added an assist and Jonathan Lush rounded out the Espanola scoring with a single tally. Signoretti and Lush both had shorthanded goals to aid the Paper Kings victory.

In Sunday’s only other playoff game, the Powassan Voodoos edged the Hearst Lumberjacks 4-3 to take a 2-0 lead in games in their East Division semi-final.
