Sault boy to St. Catharines

James Elliott is headed to the Greater Ontario Jr. Hockey League for a season of development with the St. Catharines Falcons. Elliott, a 2008 birth year forward from Sault Ste. Marie and a seventh round, 2024 Ontario Hockey League priority selections draft pick of the Soo Greyhounds, spent the ’24-25 season with the Soo Thunderbirds of the Northern Ontario Jr. Hockey League.

The 5 foot 9, 175 pound Elliott has opted to head to St. Catharines from his hometown Thunderbirds for a further year of development. The hard working youngster skated in 47 regular season games for the Thunderbirds in ’24-25 and netted 14 goals, 17 assists, 31 points. He then added three goals, four assists, seven points in 10 playoff outings.

Elliott also has a future Division 1, National Collegiate Athletic Association commitment from the Lake Superior State University Lakers.

  1. The Soo must feel like the “Titanic” with all these young players heading elsewhere !!!!!!!! New focus on development, values and strong fair leadership is definitely needed.
