Sault Ste. Marie products Mateo Muto and Eli Chapman are tried and tested from more than 60 games at the Under 16 AAA prep level for BioSteel Sports Academy of Windsor. To be sure, over the course of the recently completed ’25-26 schedule, both Muto and Chapman stood out for BioSteel, which recorded a record of 39-18-6 against top AAA competition from across Ontario and into the United States.

Now, the 2010 birth year skaters have what Mark Seidel of North American Independent Central Scouting calls a “good chance” to be picked at the this year’s June 12-13 Ontario Hockey League priority selections draft. Notably, Seidel is also the director of player personnel for the OHL’s Windsor Spitfires.

A 6 foot, 165 pound defenseman with a right hand shot, Muto displayed striking offensive ability from his blue line spot and improved his overall game immensely as the ’25-26 season progressed. Muto led BioSteel Sports Academy defensemen in scoring — and was sixth overall on the team — with impressive totals of eight goals, 40 assists, 48 points in 62 games. And in addition to his offensive skills from his blue line post, Muto showed that he is cool, calm and collected under pressure as someone who moves the puck well.

A 5 foot 10, 170 pound forward, Chapman finished fourth on the BioSteel Sports Academy scoring chart in ’25-26 with 40 goals, 28 assists, 68 points in 62 games. The upside on Chapman includes his natural ability and a pro style shot that compliments his strong skating.
