Blind River Beavers of the Northern Ontario Jr. Hockey League have added a defenseman and a forward via the cash transaction route, Hockey News North has confirmed.

William Lobanov

The Beavers have obtained 6 foot, 200 pound, 2006 birth year defenseman William Lobanov from their NOJHL rival Timmins Rock and acquired 5 foot 10, 170 pound, 2007 birth year forward James Lin from the Yarmouth Mariners of the Maritime Hockey League.

Beavers head coach and general manager Kyle Brick told Hockey News North that Lobanov “is a guy who kind of fell in our lap … he is a big body who likes to keep it simple on the back end. He fits the model of our D coach Dylan King … there are a lot of similarities between the two and we are happy to get him in our line up.

“As for Lin, we have been searching for a natural center for quite some time .. he is a young player with a huge upside that we are excited about. Both these players will make an immediate impact as we fight for a playoff spot down the stretch,” noted Brick.

Blind River is presently in a five team battle for the final two playoff spots among the 11 clubs of the NOJHL.
