Beavers wipe out Wildcats
Blind River Beavers are moving on to the West Division semi-finals and a showdown with the no. 1 seed Soo Thunderbirds. The Beavers bested the Elliot Lake Wildcats 6-2 today to sweep the best-of-three, preliminary round, Northern Ontario Jr. Hockey League playoff series in two straight games.
The fourth-place Beavers had started the series with a tidy 5-2 win over the fifth-place Wildcats.
Rookie forward Justin Mauro, a 2002 birth-year skater from Sault Ste. Marie and 2018 Ontario Hockey League draft pick of the Erie Otters, had a goal and an assist to help Blind River to its series-clinching victory today.
