Star forward Brant Romaniuk of the Timmins Rock of the Northern Ontario Jr. Hockey League says the relationship that he has with his head coach Brandon Perry is “truly special.” The homegrown, 2007 birth year forward relayed that message to Hockey News North after being picked to the Canada East squad that will compete at next month’s World Junior A Challenge.

“I simply put a lot of trust in Brandon and the Rock organization and came back to (play in Timmins again this season to) hopefully generate more opportunities to further achieve my goals,” said the 2007 birth year skater, who like his coach Perry, is a local Timmins product. “I have been given a leadership role this year and have been given a chance to prove that I can play all aspects of the game including the penalty kill.

“I owe a lot to my teammates because it’s a team effort,” Romaniuk continued, “but it is my relationship with my coach that is truly special. I can’t wait to represent my hometown and my team at a national level.”

The five foot nine, 177 pound Romaniuk currently leads Timmins in scoring and is one of the top producers in the NOJHL thus far this season with 21 goals, 23 assists, 44 points in just 22 games.

The 2025 World Junior A Challenge is slated for December 7-13 in Trois-Rivières, Quebec where the two Canadian sides will take on teams from the United States and Sweden at the week long event.
