As debuts go, it could not have gone any better. Team Canada bronze medal winning goalie Carter George fashioned a 20 save shutout in his opening performance as a member of the Soo Greyhounds.

George, acquired by the Greyhounds from the Owen Sound Attack at the recent Ontario Hockey League trade deadline, was in fine form on Saturday as the Soo blanked the visiting Niagara IceDogs by a 5-0 score.

“It was awesome,” the 2006 birth year goalie relayed via the Greyhounds’ team-controlled website. “It was the picture perfect way to start my career here. To get my first shutout with the Hounds is pretty special.”

The win over Niagara kept the Greyhounds in fourth place in the Western Conference of the OHL with 50 points from a record of 24-14-2.
