NOJHL East heats up

Hearst Lumberjacks and Kirkland Lake Gold Miners are putting the heat on the pace-setting Powassan Voodoos in the East Division of the Northern Ontario Jr. Hockey League.

Hearst — which has won four straight games — and Kirkland Lake have both moved to within five points of Powassan.

The Lumberjacks (6-3-0) and Gold Miners (6-2-0) both have 12 points and are within range of the Voodoos, who have 17 points from a near-perfect record of 8-0-1.

Timmins Rock is holding steady in fourth place with 9 points from a record of 4-4-1.

Next up are the Cochrane Crunch, with 6 points from a 3-6-0 record and the French River Rapids, who are 1-8-1 for 3 points.
