The Northern Ontario Hockey Association and Ontario Hockey Federation are teaming up to implement the Respect in Sport Parent Program effective the 2016-2017 season.

Respect in Sport is designed as an accessible, online resource in the prevention of bullying, abuse, harassment and discrimination. The program’s mission is to empower participants to recognize signs of bullying, abuse, harassment and discrimination and eliminate it from hockey.

“The Respect in Sport Parent Program has been discussed within the NOHA since 2011 and we are very pleased to see this worthwhile program integrated into our programming across the North beginning next season,” said NOHA president John Jamieson.

“The NOHA Board of Directors recognizes the importance of parent education and we firmly believe that this will support a more positive environment around rinks in Northern Ontario,” added Jamieson.
