Devils season is over
A last-minute goal lifted the Alpena Wildcats to a 3-2 win over the Sault High Blue Devils in Michigan high school hockey Region 18 semi-final action from Thursday.
Thus, the end of the season has come for Sault High, which had defeated the host Tawas Braves 5-2 in quarter-final action from earlier in the week.
Aaron Kogan scored both goals and Triston Forgrave made 24 saves for Sault High in Thursday’s season-ending setback as the Blue Devils managed just 15 shots on net and failed to take advantage of a five minute power play in the second period without a single scoring chance.
The win for Alpena puts it into Saturday’s Region 18 title tilt against the Gaylord Blue Devils. Gaylord edged the Cheboygan Chiefs 3-2 in Thursday’s other semi-final game.
