Soo Eagles of the Northern Ontario Jr. Hockey League are giving practice time to goalie Gabe Rosek of the major midget Soo Indians of the Michigan Amateur Hockey Association.

The Eagles already have 1999 birth year goalie Shane Brancato firmly entrenched as their starter with Ryan Gilmore, who has a 2001 birth date, in a secondary role.

But with the workhorse Brancato — arguably the best goalie in the entire 12-team NOJHL — set to graduate after this season and move up somewhere within the National Collegiate Athletic Association ranks in the fall, always-prepared Eagles general manager Bruno Bragagnolo wants to take an early look at Rosek ahead of the 2020-2021 campaign.

“We like what we have seen of Rosek with the Indians, dating back to last season,” Bragagnolo told Hockey News North. “He is a good, young goalie with good potential who could fit into our future plans.”

Bragagnolo added that, “if the situation presents itself, we would like to maybe get Rosek some game experience with us before the end of this season.”

Rosek — who has a 2002 birth date — has played well for the aforementioned, major midget Soo Indians this season. Though he has a record of 11-20-1 on a below .500 Indians team, Rosek has a sparkling 2.23 goals against average.
