It’s back-to-back big tests for the Soo Eagles.

The Eagles, who are in pursuit of second place in the North Division of the North American Hockey League, are home to the top-seeded Janesville Jets tonight (7:30) and Saturday night (7:00) at Pullar Stadium.

With an eye-popping record of 32-9-1, Janesville leads the North Division standings with 65 points.

The Eagles are in third spot with 43 points from a record of 21-18-1. The Eagles trail the second-place Keystone Ice Miners by a single point.

Despite the fact that Janesville has taken seven of eight games from the Soo thus far this season — including the last seven in a row — the Jets can be beat, said Eagles associate coach Alex Sawruk.

“Janesville is a good team, no doubt about it. Their power play is exceptional,” said Sawruk. “But they are not unbeatable. If we play our game, we can compete with them and we can beat them.”

From a promotional standpoint, this is “Blood Drive Weekend” at the Pullar.

The blood drive will take place today from 2-6 p.m. in the ADA Room inside the Pullar. The first 30 people that give blood will receive a free ticket to tonight’s Eagles-Janesville game.
