Open tryouts, summer loop

Hockey season just keeps playing on.

Detroit Fighting Irish of the Midwest Jr. Hockey League will be staging open tryouts later this month followed by a junior-college summer league.

The open tryouts will be held Wednesday May 28, Thursday May 29 and Friday May 30 from 6-10 p.m. all three nights at Ice Box Sports Center in Brownstown.

The tryouts are open to all players born in 1994, 1995, 1996, 1997 and 1998.

As for the junior-college summer league, games will be played on Sunday nights from June 1 until August 10 at the Ice Box Sports Center.

The league will be open to players born in 1990, 1991, 1992, 1993, 1994, 1995, 1996, 1997 and 1998.

Players will skate in two games every Sunday and there will be a maximum of 13 players per team.

Teams will be balanced by way of age, experience and skill level.
