Hall of Sault College hockey

Pending official approval, Sault College Cougars will be a part of the American Collegiate Hockey Association with Division 3 status for the 2017-2018 season.

Sault College will be coached by the veteran Mike Hall, formerly of the Soo North Stars (now Soo Greyhounds) of the Great North Midget Hockey League.

A few words about Hall from his days with the erstwhile North Stars.

Some players liked playing for Hall, some did not.

Generally, I found Hall okay to deal with during his many years of coaching the Soo midgets. Sometimes he took what was written — or not written — rather personally. Sometimes he misconstrued what was being written.

But Hall is a pretty-honest guy and while he may not be for the faint of heart, he says what is on his mind. And like him or not, I would rather deal with someone like Hall than someone who wears two faces and keeps a knife in his back pocket.

Of which there is at least one who lurks within the halls of the Sault College walls.

What you think about “Hall of Sault College hockey”

  1. This will be a great destination for players who want to continue playing hockey while acquiring a trade or whatever educational goals they have in mind. With Mike and Bid running the team, it will be more than competitive with a bright future. Good luck to Mike, Bid, Jay and my old winger eh??????

  2. I am a Mike Hall fan of Coach Hall from a way back. Thanks to you for reporting this Randy. Where will the Games be played do you know?

    1. Old Soo Legion Fan we are in talks with the Rankin as of right now and hoping that -this will be the new home of the Cougars for the 2017/2018 season.

  3. My thoughts of Cougars going to rankin not a good move . Should try and play at the rhodes , or soo pee wee rinks. Better locale for fans to go and watch.
