Weekend Warriors

Michigan Warriors are home for three games this weekend and the North American Hockey League team has several promotions planned for Perani Arena in Flint.

On the ice, the defending NAHL North Division playoff champions will be out to shrug off an 0-4 start to the 2014-2015 campaign.

The Warriors lost all four of their games last week at the annual NAHL Showcase tournament in Blaine, Minnesota, scoring just five goals in the process.

But the Warriors are home now and with three games this weekend — beginning tonight — head coach Moe Mantha’s crew will be looking to get untracked.

Johnstown Tomahawks will provide the opposition for the Warriors tonight and Saturday with both games slated to begin at 7 p.m. at Perani. Then on Sunday afternoon at 4 p.m., the Warriors will play host to the Keystone Ice Miners.

Keystone is in the Soo to play the Eagles tonight (7:30 p.m.) and Saturday (7 p.m.) at Pullar Stadium.

As for the Warriors, they have several promotions scheduled for all three of their weekend home games.

All fans in attendance for tonight’s game will receive a poster schedule, Saturday night’s match will feature $1 hot dogs, $1 pop and $1 popcorn and Sunday is being billed as ‘Family Fun Day’ with four tickets, four hot dogs, four drinks, four arena bucks and four skate rentals all for just $40.

ANDREW IS EVEN

Warriors rookie Andrew Barbeau, a 1997 birth-year defenceman from Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, has dressed for all four games thus far this season and has an even plus-minus rating, which is rather good considering that Michigan as a team has allowed 13 more goals than it has scored.

TOMAHAWKS TO WARRIORS

Michigan has acquired 6-foot-5, 230 pound, 1994 birth-year forward Garrison Sanipass from Johnstown. Sanipass played in 41 games for the Tomahawks in 2013-2014 after being promoted from the Traverse City Hounds of the Midwest Jr. Hockey League.
