A second member of the Detroit Fighting Irish of the Midwest Jr. Hockey League has been invited to attend a week of practice with the Soo Eagles of the North American Hockey League.

George Hill, a 1995 birth-year goalie with the Fighting Irish, is slated to be in the Soo next week to audition with the Eagles.

Hill’s family advisor, David Maciuk, along with Eagles coach-general manager Bruno Bragagnolo and head scout Tom Farnquist all confirmed that the 6-foot-1, 160 pound puckstopper will head to the Soo for three days of practice.

Earlier, as was reported by HockeyNewsNorth.com, the Eagles invited Jacob Hernandez, a high-scoring, 1995 birth-year power forward, to come to the Soo and skate with the NAHL team next week.

The Eagles regularly invite select players from lower-level junior leagues to the Soo so they can gauge how they stack up against NAHL players in a practice setting.

If the Eagles like what they see, they can tender the players or put them on their list of prospects for the annual NAHL draft.

As for Hill, he is one of four goalies on the active roster of the MWJHL’s Fighting Irish.

In parts of 11 games thus far this season, Hill has a record of 3-3-1 with a 3.89 goals-against-average and .897 save percentage.
