Mike Flammia, owner-operator of two Little Caesars franchise outlets in Sault Ste. Marie, Ont., has been involved in a number of community projects in the three years that he has been in business.

One of his involvements is the annual Little Caesars Winter Classic that has taken place in each of the past three Februarys at Silver Creek Golf Course.

In partnership with Silver Creek Golf Course, which is located just outside the Sault in Garden River First Nation, the Little Caesars Winter Classic is designed to give area kids who are in need the opportunity to receive new hockey equipment courtesy proceeds from the annual event.

In all, more than $4,000 was raised at this year’s event with the money going towards the purchase of new equipment.

“We are a family company and we like to give back to the community,” said Flammia, whose Little Caesars stores are located in Churchill Plaza and Market Mall.

The youngsters selected were chosen after writing a letter to Silver Creek general manager Jamie Henderson detailing their passion for the game of hockey and the need for new equipment to pursue their hockey dreams.

“It’s what we call a true community partnership between Silver Creek and Little Caesars,” noted Henderson.
