Soo pee wee majors have series lead
Soo Greyhounds pee wee majors can complete a first-round playoff upset on Saturday when they play host to the Sudbury Wolves in a 1 p.m. match at John Rhodes Community Centre.
The Greyhounds lead the best-of-five, Northern Ontario AAA Hockey League series 2-0 by virtue of a pair of victories in Sudbury last weekend.
Should Sudbury force a Game 4 with a win on Saturday afternoon, it would be played on Sunday morning at 10:00 at Rankin Arena.
Sudbury finished in second place during the NOHL pee wee major regular season with 37 points from a record of 17-10-3 while the Soo placed third with 30 points from a record of 13-13-4.
Of note, one member of the Greyhound coaching staff is Mark Matier. Matier played his entire three-year Ontario Hockey League career with the Soo Greyhounds and was a standout defenseman on the 1993 Memorial Cup championship team.
