Soo Eagles have moved into sole possession of second spot in the North Division of the North American Hockey League, two points up on the Keystone Ice Miners.

Playing at home on Thursday, the Eagles got two goals from forward Brad Pung en route to a 2-1 win over the Springfield Jr. Blues.

Pung now has 15 goals on the season.

The win for the Eagles was their fifth straight — all with goalie Chad Catt between the pipes — and improved their record to 27-21-1, good for 55 points.

Catt, who was acquired from the Aberdeen Wings at the February 6 NAHL trade deadline, has a record of 5-0 with a 1.57 goals against average and .947 save percentage since joining the Eagles.

The Eagles are home to Springfield again tonight and on Saturday at Pullar Stadium.

Tonight’s game begins at 7:30. Saturday night’s match is slated to start at 7:00.

What you think about “Pung pings Eagles past Springfield”

  1. If there wood be one area in which the Soo Eagles are lacking I wood say that it is in the Scouting Departmint.

    1. Hockey Adviser,

As someone who covers and follows the Soo Eagles rather closely let me say that I do believe their scouting staff that includes Tom Farnquist and Doug Bailey does an exceptional job. Not sure why you seem to think otherwise but as you have your opinion, I have mine.
