Re-unite Headrick, Pucci

We know that Lake Superior State Lakers have already made a full-ride scholarship offer to Owen Headrick, a 1997 birth-year defenceman with the Soo Thunderbirds of the Northern Ontario Jr. Hockey League.

Headrick — a 14th-round pick of the Erie Otters at the 2013 Ontario Hockey League — has yet to make a decision as to which route he wants to take.

Well, if I am Jim Roque, head coach of the Division 1, Western Collegiate Hockey Association Lakers, I also make an offer to 1997 birth-center Frankie Pucci of the Soo Indians major midgets.

Not only is Pucci a good friend and former Soo Thunder minor-midget teammate of Headrick, he was also selected by Erie at the 2013 OHL draft — in the 12th round.

The kicker is that Roque likes Pucci.

So why not seal the deal by making Pucci an offer to come to Lake Superior State?

Commit to Pucci and I think the chances are very good that both he and Headrick choose Lake State over Erie.

Not only do Roque and the Lakers get a pair of young blue-chippers but they create fan interest that has been lacking on the north side of the International Bridge at Sault Ste. Marie for some years now.
