Popular goalie Eddie Mio and forwards Mickey Redmond, Joey Kocur, John Ogrodnick and Darren McCarty head a list of Detroit Red Wings/National Hockey League alumni who will face off against a team of erstwhile Flint Generals and other minor pro oldtimers in a Friday night fundraiser game at Perani Arena.

The now 61-year old Mio grew up across the river from Detroit in Windsor, Ont.

The game, scheduled for Friday at 7:30 at Perani Arena in Flint, is the first such exhibition tilt since the Generals folded as a member of the International Hockey League in 2010.

Generals alumni who are slated to suit up for the game include high-scoring forward Ross Wilson, who tallied a career-high 109 points for the Generals during the 1996-1997 season.

The game is being promoted as a benefit for the United Way of Genesee County and Old Newsboys of Flint. Tickets are $15 and $10 and available at the Perani Arena box office.
