Smyl off to sizzling start
Cooper Smyl, who scored 33 goals in 68 games over two seasons with the Soo Thunderbirds of the Northern Ontario Jr. Hockey League, is making his mark with the Whitecourt Wolverines of the Alberta Jr. Hockey League.
A 6-foot-2, 170 pound forward with a 2002 birth date, Smyl was recently named AJHL player of the week. For the season to date, Smyl has eight goals, six assists, 14 points in 10 games.
This is Smyl’s second season in the AJHL with Whitecourt. In 59 games in 2021-2022, he tallied 12 goals, 21 assists, 33 points.
