Soo Eagles take Rollie King Cup
Soo Eagles of the North American Hockey League have possession of the Rollie King Cup.
The Eagles swept the Soo Thunderbirds of the Northern Ontario Jr. Hockey League by 3-1 and 7-1 scores on the weekend to win the Rollie King Cup showdown between the Twin Soo rivals.
The Rollie King Cup honours the late Rollie King, a Michigan Soo native who crossed the International Bridge to play for the Soo Greyhounds of the Northern Ontario Hockey Association in the mid-1960s.
King later served in the Vietnam War and died of leukemia before his 30th birthday.
