Soo Jr. Greyhounds pee wee minors are one victory away from winning the Northern Ontario AAA Hockey League championship.

The Jr. Greyhounds can clinch the NOHL pee wee minor division title on Saturday with a win at Sudbury’s Centennial Arena.

A pair of home-ice triumphs over the Nickel City Sons last weekend gave the Soo a commanding 2-0 lead in the best-of-five series.

Five forwards had four points apiece as the Jr. Greyhounds blanked Nickel City by 9-0 and 4-0 scores.

Nathan Palmer, Eben Leadbetter, Calem Mangone, Devin Mauro and Christian Omollo combined for 20 points and Ariella Merlino and Noah Metivier both fashioned shutouts in the Soo’s two home-ice wins.

Two other Jr. Greyhound teams — the atom AA majors and atom AA minors — have already won northern Ontario titles.
