T-Bird midgets draw first blood
Soo Thunderbirds used home ice this afternoon to defeat the North Bay Trappers in the opener of their Great North Midget Hockey League semi-final playoff series.
Matt Mackay scored twice and Lucas Miller and Ryan Mulligan netted solo tallies as the T-Birds trimmed the Trappers 4-2.
Mickey George and Jacob Delisle replied for North Bay.
Joey Roberts recorded the victory in goal for coach Jim Capy’s Soo crew.
Game two in the best-of-five series is slated for Sunday afternoon at 2:30 at the Essar Centre.
