T-Bird midgets maintain first place
Soo Thunderbirds took two of three games from the visiting Nickel City Sons this weekend at John Rhodes Community Centre.
With the two wins, the Thunderbirds maintain first place in the seven-team Great North Midget Hockey League with 45 points from a record of 22-8-1. Nickel City is in fourth place with 34 points.
On Friday, the Thunderbirds scored an 8-7 overtime win. Then on Saturday, the Soo posted a 6-4 victory.
Nickel City came back to win the third game of the weekend set on Sunday morning, a 6-2 decision.
