T-Bird midgets home for three
In first place in the seven-team Great North Midget Hockey League with 41 points from a record of 20-7-1, Soo Thunderbirds will play host to the fourth-seeded Nickel City Sons tonight, Saturday evening and Sunday morning.
Nickel City has 31 points from a record of 15-11-1.
Game times are 8 p.m. tonight, 6 p.m. on Saturday and 11 a.m. on Sunday at John Rhodes Community Centre.
Leading the way offensively for the Thunderbirds are five forwards and two defencemen.
Brendan Gillis is the top-scoring T-Bird front-liner followed by Brad Thrower, Ryan Mulligan, Zach Senecal and Matt MacKay.
Averaging a point-per-game, Matt Murray and Jared Fanti are plum defencemen in front of workhorse goalie Joey Roberts, who has played in 22 of the Soo’s 28 games.
