T-Bird teams take two
Soo Thunderbirds of the Great North Midget Hockey League and Soo Thunderbirds of the Northern Ontario Jr. Hockey League both scored playoff victories on Saturday.
GNMHL
Playing at home, the Thunderbirds doubled up the visiting New Liskeard Cubs 6-3 to take a 2-1 lead in the best-of-five championship series.
Zach Senecal paced the Soo with two goals.
The T-Birds can wrap up the Great North title with a win at home today.
Game time is 4:30 p.m. at John Rhodes Community Centre.

Rookie Matt Caruso fired three goals and seasoned skater Jaren Bellini added a pair as the visiting Thunderbirds cuffed the Blind River Beavers 10-1 to take a 2-0 lead in the first-round, best-of-seven series.
Game 3 is slated for tonight at 7:30 p.m. at John Rhodes Community Centre.
