T-Birds to Sault College
A pair of fine forwards are moving on from the Soo Thunderbirds of the Northern Ontario Jr. Hockey League to the Sault College Cougars of the Division 2, American Collegiate Hockey Association effective the 2023-2024 season.
They are Michael Chaffay and Ethan Novello. Chaffay has a 2002 birth date while Novello was born in 2003.
In 155 career games with the Thunderbirds, playoffs included, Chaffay potted 57 goals, 65 assists, 122 points.
Novello, meanwhile, had a career season with the Thunderbirds over the course of the 2022-2023 campaign with 13 goals, 16 assists, 29 points in 71 games, playoffs included. In 49 games with the Thunderbirds spread out over two seasons prior to this past one, Novello had one goal, nine assists, 10 points.
