Soo Thunderbirds have taken a two games to none lead on the North Bay Trappers in their second-round, best-of-five, Great North Midget Hockey League playoff series.

Playing at home on Sunday afternoon, the Thunderbirds trimmed the Trappers by an 8-1 score.

The Thunderbirds opened the series on Saturday with a 4-2 victory.

1998 birth-year forward Matt Mackay, a 2014 Ontario Hockey League draft pick of the Kitchener Rangers, has been the main points producer for the T-Birds thus far this series with 3 goals, 3 assists, 6 points in 2 games.

Game 3 in the series is set for North Bay on Saturday afternoon.

What you think about “T-Birds up two on Trappers”

  1. Can you belive the former owner of north bay trappers and Mattawa blackhawks David Beauchamp is a owner of the new Canadian pizza franchise. How is this possible?

And if you want to know why I am posting this on a midget blog to the Soo it is because a lot of people will see it.

    1. Toughtimes,

Note that your post has been edited. You want to go after David Beauchamp with potentially-libelous remarks? Do it on your own space.

  2. Sure Dave made some mistakes when it came to running a hockey team but for the most part tried to do nothing but the best for what he had. He went in to ownership IMO already a touch behind the 8 ball and was playing catch up ever since. You don`t know his personal life and what he may have done in the short few months since being away from Hockey. If he has found something to support him and his family GOOD GOING DAVE! “Toughtimes” you have no right to question someones life and what they are doing. AND especially on an unrelated post. If you have an issue with someone or how they have now conducted their life to be where they are maybe you should go and talk to that individual. Other than that doing on here is pretty cowardly if you ask me. ANYWHO Dave All the best to you and your future endeavors.

  3. I think Mattawa will take Powassan in 3 games in first round of playoffs if there starter Joe Sheppard plays like he can Mattawa also has a lot of 20 year old forwards who will want to keep playing hockey a little longer,

And as for my comments about a person, unrelated to the article is a personal feeling that I don’t belive people can go “insolvent” and a few months later be running a business
